Don't let Burger King be the only place that has a "whopper!"
Translation: (1) Catch a Big One, or (2) TELL a Big One! Enjoy your time at the water's edge and be filled.

I have to say that I actually did catch a whopper! Tuesday I caught a 30 1/4" bluefish. That was the biggest (bluefish) any in our party had ever seen. It was tons of fun. The fish jumped in the air at least 4 times trying to throw the hook!

When I finally got it to the shore, the stress of the battle and/or the weight of the fish straightened out the clip holding my hook on! It was laying there in the edge of the surf completely free.

My dad was there trying to help me get it in and when he saw it off the line he jumped on it like an Iowa wrestler doing an ankle pick! If he hadn't been there (and been willing to get wet) I am sure the fish would have gotten away. There was no way I could have gotten to it in time.

Sadly, no gold piece in the fish's mouth! (As I retell the story, though, who knows?)

It was an awesome time fishing. We had GORGEOUS weather for the better part of the week. I can't remember a time when we caught as many nice fish and had such good weather. It was truly a memorable trip.

Even the trip home was memorable. Hurricane Noel was off the coast and the winds were very exciting. (What amazes me is that there were people actually trying to fish today!) It is amazing how wind can move sand around. They had crews out trying to keep the coastal highway clear of the blowing sand. It was a Sisyphean task!

The pelicans were the smart ones. I saw hundreds of them at Oregon Inlet waiting it out on the lee side of the island.

OK. I'm realizing that there is way more to tell than can or should be done in a comment. I will do a post with a full report.
