"Although the church is obviously an instrument of salvation, many Christians refuse to see it as anything beyond that. Tragically, this view of church life has produced a generation of Christians who are more interested in escaping from the world than transforming the world."

This is so true. We tell new believers "come out from among them" for their own good - so they can be discipled and taught about being a Christian, but in doing so we pull them away from their unsaved friends and deprive those friends of witnessing the most drastic and convincing changes that the new believer will ever go through. Then, later, after they are thoroughly 'matured' we wonder why we can't get them to witness and why they (and we) can't seem to relate to the lost. We have so insulated ourselves that we can't even speak a language that the lost can understand.
